Why We Started River City Wine Week...
River City Wine Week – Love wine? So do we! Whether it’s bubbles paired with brunch, a sultry red framing an indulgent dinner, or a glass of delicious, crisp, breezy rose to accompany a gathering of friends - wine makes everything better! Add to that, we live in California's capital city, Sacramento, where we can drive to over 200 wineries in less than an hour.
During River City Wine Week, you can celebrate the power and joy of this ancient elixir at wine centric events hosted by Sacramento area wineries, restaurants and retailers. If you’re looking to try new wines, sample wine flights, attend a seminar that highlights unfamiliar wine regions, producers or varietals, meet & greet winemakers, indulge in a wine pairing dinner, you’ll find something perfect in our calendar of events.
We are all wine lovers and have been involved in the wine business in one way or another for decades!
With 20 years in the wine industry, it is an understatement to say that wine is an integral part of Carrie’s life. “My first sip ignited my passion, and this hobby eventually turned into a career. Whether as a manager for a national wine & spirits retailer or as the owner/operator of my own fine wine shops, I have dedicated myself to sharing my love of wine with novices, enthusiasts and experts alike.
Over time, I have continued my studies of oenology and viticulture and am a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW). I have judged wine competitions around Northern California, made my own wine, designed and taught classes, orchestrated large wine events and traveled to wine regions all over California, Oregon, Washington, Australia, New Zealand, France (Burgundy, Rhone Valley, Bordeaux, Champagne, and Beaujolais), and Spain (Rioja and Ribera del Duero). Now, I act as a broker representative for hand-crafted wineries from various corners of the world. Every day, I have the opportunity to learn and meet new people, and I have the privilege of sharing my passion.
Clearly, I love what I do! Wine brings people together and facilitates sharing and community like nothing else.”
